Chisels and mallet only. A master of classical woodcarving made contemporary, Don Schol spent nearly 45 years addressing religious subjects as well as personal ones.
From 1967-68 of the Vietnam War, Don was assigned as Commander of Combat Artist Team V, US Army, attached to the Office of Military History. In 2011, he published WAR CUTS, a suite of 16 woodcut prints. The forward was written by then Senator John Kerry.
Watercolor painting now dominates Don's days in the studio, often inspired by his lifelong love of tools and jazz music.
